The St Louis KISS Expo was excellent, and the highlight was a live film of Paul Stanley's Live To Win tour in High Definition. It looked and sounded amazing. Those of you who caught Paul on tour knew what to expect, but the ones that didn't had a huge treat watching that performance filmed in Chicago. Great job by Louis Antonelli who is quite the KISS fan of course.
A clip from LIVE TO DREAM! is now posted at Film Foetus.com. LIVE TO DREAM! is an insider's glimpse into the creative process of Paul Stanley and his new concert film titled “LIVE TO WIN Live.”
A Paul Stanley interview with Sky News has been posted to YouTube. The interview also features live concert footage from Paul's forthcoming LIVE TO WIN DVD.
Director D.P Carlson has finished his companion film to Paul’s upcoming Concert film DVD. ‘Paul Stanley – Live To Dream!’ is a behind the scenes documentary featurette which Carlson describes as, ‘an insider’s glimpse’ into Paul Stanley’s creativity, and personal journey from his first solo album in 1978, to his latest ‘Live To Win’ release and Tour. The film also captures the emotional and creative process of how Producer/Director Louis Antonelli’s concert film, ‘Paul Stanley – Live To Win Live!’ came to be.
‘Paul Stanley - Live To Dream!’ features interviews with Paul Stanley, Louis Antonelli, Manager DOC McGHEE, band members JIMMY McGORMAN, RAFAEL MOREIRA, and NATE MORTON, as well as personal insights from fans attending the Chicago concert & filming. D.P. Carlson told PaulStanley.com, “What attracted me to this film was not just the opportunity to work with one of my rock heroes from KISS, but to explore the unique relationship between filmmaker Louis Antonelli and Paul Stanley - who is one of Louis’ childhood idols.”
FROM CONCERTS TO CANVAS, PAUL STANLEY CONTINUES TO SHOW HIS ARTISTIC SIDE STANLEY'S WORK IS SEALED WITH A KISS
BY EMILY GILMORE - The Free Lance-Star
As a member of the wildly popular rock band KISS, Paul Stanley hid his persona under layers of makeup and spandex. But since the spectacularly coifed guitarist began painting, Stanley is opening up through his artwork.
Wentworth Gallery is offering KISS fans and art lovers alike the chance to see Stanley's works during exhibitions tomorrow and Saturday at the gallery's locations in Bethesda, Md., and McLean. Stanley will be present at both events.
"I saw his art and it sort of struck me as being very, very good," Wentworth owner Michael O'Mahony told The Free Lance-Star this week. "Besides the fact that obviously he's a very well-known rock star, his art is good enough to stand on its own."
The 30 to 35 pieces that will be on display include originals, prints and a sort of "embellished" print that Stanley has painted over by hand, O'Mahony said. The works range from $1,500 to $70,000.
Pictured is KISS Fan John Upshaw Downs and Ace at the KISS Coffeehouse last weekend. They are posing with John's Paul painting "Shock Me".
John on meeting Ace and having him sign the painting:
"When my turn came, I walked up to him, shook his hand and told him how nervous I was. He said don't worry about it. I then pulled out my painting that Paul Stanley did of him in his make up called "Shock Me." I could not believe it. He stood there for five or ten seconds looking at this, and then he said, "Where did you get this?" I said nervously, " from Paul Stanley." He said, "Wow! Where do you want me to sign this?" I said, "anywhere you want!" He had been signing everything in black ink, but he pulled out a blue sharpie and signed his name at the bottom of the painting. I believe he used the blue sharpie because it went so well with the painting. It is absolutely beautiful!"
Fans anxiously awaiting news regarding Paul Stanley's upcoming DVD release of the concert film 'Paul Stanley - Live To Win Live!, filmed during Paul's US Tour late last year will be excited to learn that the movie was completed a few weeks ago in Chicago by Director Louis Antonelli & his team.
The massive, 14 camera production, which features Paul's scorching performance at Chicago's House Of Blues on November 6th was 'a labor of love for all involved in its creation' Antonelli stated. The feature film has a running time of close to two hours, and includes a wealth of bonus materials including Director D.P. Carlson's dynamic making of documentary, 'Paul Stanley - Live To Dream!'
Antonelli went on to say, 'I've worked with many outstanding artists during my long career, but Paul is definitely in a class by himself! He is a consummate artist, gentleman, and has a warm spirit that brings out the very best in everyone who works with him!' Lou also shared with PaulStanley.com some heartfelt words when asked to talk about the complex process of making the film, 'I had a terrific crew of dedicated professionals who gave their all, with many fondly expressing to me during the production what Paul Stanley and his music has meant to their lives - all I can say right now is this shared feeling really comes across on the screen!'
The man who never stops working! Even during his family vacation in Hawaii, Paul still finds the time to do some work. Here he is with his publisher, signing every print of the limited edition "Infinite Solitude" and "Purple Haze". Paul pays a lot of attention to his signature, which is a work of art in itself.
Taking a break from the beach, Paul dropped by the Celebrites Gallery in Maui yesterday to check out some of his new Original paintings freshly framed for his upcoming exhibition.
On Friday night, Paul will unveil seven new pieces, inspired by his interest in surrealist masters Joan Miro and Alexander Calder.
Friday will be an exciting night ! see you there!!
